BECS 2-Way Chat
What is the BECS 2-Way Chat Feature?
This feature is currently being piloted with a small group of teachers and families. We anticipate making it available to all families in August 2026.
The BECS 2-way chat feature in the BECS Mobile App provides parents and guardians with a simple, secure way to stay connected with teachers and school staff.
Think of it like a quick hallway conversation—short, focused, and easy to use.
2-way chat is designed for:
- Brief questions or quick check-ins
- Reminders and real-time updates about class activities or homework
- Group messages from teachers or coaches to families in a class, club, or team
- Scheduling a time for a longer conversation if needed
2-way chat is not intended for long, in-depth, or highly sensitive conversations. For those situations, please use email, phone calls, or schedule a meeting.

Getting Started with 2-Way Chat
When to Use Chat vs. Email or Phone
We want communication with your child’s teacher(s) to feel clear, simple, and supportive. The guide below can help you choose the best way to connect.

Use 2-Way Chat For:
-
Staying informed with classroom or group announcements
-
Quick reminders or clarification about class activities or events (e.g., “Can you confirm what day the project is due?”)
-
Friendly check-ins or quick follow-ups (e.g., “Thanks again for today’s conversation, we’re trying that strategy at home tonight.”)
-
Asking non-urgent, school-related questions

Use Email For:
-
Topics that are sensitive, private, or require more context or thoughtful explanation (e.g., academic progress or behavior concerns)
-
Sharing important family updates (e.g., a recent move or change in schedule)
-
Conversations that may require a detailed response or follow-up

Use Phone or In-Person Meetings For:
For urgent matters, please contact the main office directly.
Urgent situations (call the main office):
- Changes to student pickup
- Safety concerns
- Situations that require immediate attention
Planned conversations (schedule in advance):
- Highly sensitive concerns

Message Etiquette & Respectful Communication
2-way chat is a helpful way to stay connected with your child’s teacher(s) and the school. To keep communication effective and supportive for everyone, we ask that all families use it thoughtfully and respectfully.
We’re all on the same team, and how we communicate helps set the tone for how we work together.
Please keep the following in mind:
- Use polite, respectful language and clearly state the purpose of your message
- Keep messages focused on school-related topics
- Avoid sarcasm, aggressive language, profanity, excessive emojis, or personal comments
Messages sent through the BECS Mobile App are archived and monitored to help maintain a safe and supportive environment.
At BECS, we believe communication should build trust, strengthen relationships, and support every student’s success. We ask all families to communicate with respect, clarity, and a shared commitment to our SOAR values.
