WEB Leaders

Middle school student opening their locker in the hallway.

Middle school can feel like a big leap, especially for new 6th graders stepping into a whole new world of lockers, schedules, and social circles.

That’s where WEB Leaders come in! This student-led program, powered by 8th-graders, helps 6th-graders adjust to middle school life and find their footing through games, activities, and real connections.

And beyond mentorship, WEB is also about building a culture of kindness and respect. By fostering friendships and creating a safe space for everyone, WEB helps prevent bullying and ensures every student feels like they belong.

WEB Leaders are champions of the positive, supportive environment we aim to nurture here at Bromley East!

How WEB Leaders Support 6th-Graders

These 8th-grade mentors go above and beyond to create a positive experience, turning those first-day nerves into lasting connections through:

Opportunities for 8th Graders

Being a WEB Leader is a chance for 8th-graders to grow as individuals. These students take on real leadership roles, gaining skills and confidence while creating a lasting impact on their school by:

My journey at Bromley started in fifth grade. Along the way I met some amazing people who helped and encouraged me to grow and lead. Bromley has given me many opportunities to lead others and SOAR. I learned how to be respectful, responsible, and helpful to staff and students at Bromley.

One thing I'm most proud of is being part of the WEB Program. WEB allows me to lead and be a role model for the younger students at Bromley. I'm so grateful for the chances and opportunities to learn, grow, and lead at the BECS.

How to Become a WEB Leader

7th-grade students interested in becoming WEB Leaders can apply during the spring semester.

The application process includes the following:

  • Students fill out an online form, answering questions about their interests, leadership experience, and why they want to be a WEB Leader.

  • Applicants are asked to provide 2–3 references from past teachers who can speak to their leadership skills and character.

  • Selected students will receive training to prepare them for their mentorship role.

WEB has been an extremely rewarding experience for me as a coordinator. The impact that the program has made on the community has been immediately evident. Across middle school, WEB has provided unique opportunities for students to contribute to the Bromley community.

Eighth graders will learn critical leadership skills, while supporting their younger counterparts in the school. These leadership opportunities are hard to come by in a middle school setting. Students truly take control of their middle school experience. Planning events, supporting each other, and making hard decisions are all things that a student will experience as a WEB Leader.

Conversely, as sixth graders, the WEB Program works for foster community and uphold the ideals of Bromley. Through social and academic-focused activities, WEB Leaders will guide sixth grade students through the difficulties that a middle school transition can present.
