Enrollment & Registration

Enrollment is based on a random selection lottery system to ensure fairness and transparency. Here’s how it works:

1. Submit your application during the lottery window.
2. If there are more applicants than available spots, a computerized lottery will determine placement.
3. Families will be notified by email if their child has been selected.

Returning students are automatically re-enrolled each year and do not participate in the lottery process.

Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years old by October 1st.

In the US, the typical age of students in each grade is as follows: 

• First grade: Around 6 years old. 
• Second grade: Around 7 years old. 
• Third grade: Around 8 years old. 
• Fourth grade: Around 9 years old. 
• Fifth grade: Around 10 years old. 
• Middle school: Around 11–13 years old. 

Enrollment is open to all students, including those with disabilities, and information about disabilities will not be requested until a student has been admitted and enrolled in a charter school. Colorado law requires that all students have up-to-date immunizations before starting at Bromley East Charter School to keep our community safe and healthy.

Bromley East is committed to providing a safe learning and work environment where all members of the school community are treated with dignity and respect.

The school is subject to all federal and state laws and constitutional provisions prohibiting discrimination on the basis of disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, ancestry, or need for special education services.

Accordingly, no otherwise qualified student, employee, applicant for employment, or member of the public may be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to unlawful discrimination under any district program or activity on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, creed, religion, sex (which includes marital status), sexual orientation, disability or need for special education services.

Discrimination against employees and applicants for employment based on age, genetic information, and conditions relating to pregnancy or childbirth is also prohibited in accordance with state and/or federal law.

Bromley East Charter School uses and follows the same Non-Discrimination policies as our Charter Authorizer, School District 27J.

If your child is transferring to Bromley East Charter School, here’s how the process works:

1. Begin by completing the initial application. Once a spot becomes available, you’ll receive an offer via Schoolmint.
    
2. After accepting the offer, the next steps depend on whether your child is transferring from within the district or outside the district:

• In-District Transfers
  • Complete the Discretionary Transfer Form.
  • Provide a letter explaining the reason for the transfer.
  • Obtain a signature from the principal of your child’s current school.

Once Bromley East reviews the form, we’ll request the current school to end-date your child’s enrollment, and we’ll proceed with scheduling the student.

• Out-of-District Transfers
  • After accepting the offer via Schoolmint, you’ll receive an email with a link to complete the 27J application and upload the following documents:
    • Birth Certificate
    • Proof of Residency
    • Current Immunization Records or Exemption Forms

The Registrar will review and approve the application once all documents are submitted. Counselors will then schedule your child and provide a start date, along with any additional information you may need.

If your child is withdrawing from Bromley East Charter School to attend a new school, whether in-district or out-of-district, please follow these steps:

1. Submit the required Withdrawal Form.
    
2. Once the form is submitted, the Registrar will review any outstanding fees, approve the withdrawal, and officially end-date the student’s enrollment at BECS.
    
3. Notifying Current and Future Schools:

• In-District Transfers: The new school cannot enroll your child until BECS end-dates the student in the system.
   
• Out-of-District Transfers: Families must complete the withdrawal process at BECS before enrolling in the new school.

In both cases, BECS will coordinate with the new school to ensure a smooth transition, including confirming end dates and enrollment dates.
