Bromley East is a public, tuition-free K-8 charter school located within School District 27J’s boundaries and operates as an independent charter school. We have our own Human Resources Department, pay structure, curriculum, and school calendar. All employees participate in PERA, Colorado’s Public Employee Retirement Association.

Substitute Teaching

Licensure

An active license through the Colorado Department of Education is required for teachers, certified staff, and administrators. Information regarding CDE’s licensing requirements can be found HERE including how to transfer an out-of-state license.

Alternative Licensure

The Colorado Department of Education provides guidance for Alternative Licensure on their licensing page. Click HERE for more information found under “Alternative Preparation and Licensure”. Bromley East has actively partnered with educators to obtain an alternative teaching license.

PEBC

Bromley East partners with the Public Education Business Coalition (PEBC) to support educators in obtaining licensure.

PEBC offers a number of pathways to licensure with their two most popular routes being:

Salary

2025 - 2026 Salary Schedules

Bromley East is committed to compensation that is market-competitive and internally equitable. Compensation is reviewed and adjusted annually in comparison to the market. Employees are provided offer letters which include the terms of employment and compensation amount. Bromley East honors up to 11 years of relevant experience for all positions.

Benefits are available for full-time positions (30 hours/week or .75 FTE or greater).

Benefits Enrollment

Employees can sign up for benefits or change benefit elections within 31 days of the initial eligibility date (as a newly-hired employee), during the annual benefits open enrollment period, or within 31 days of experiencing a qualifying life event. The choices made at this time will remain the same through June 30th of that year. If benefits are not elected during the initial eligibility period or during the open enrollment period, you will not be able to elect coverage until the following plan year unless you experience a qualifying life event, more information is below.

Making Mid-Year Benefits Changes

Due to IRS regulations, once you have made your elections for the plan year, you cannot change your benefits until the next annual open enrollment period which occurs in May of each year. The only exception is if you experience a qualifying life event. Election changes must be consistent with your life event.

Qualifying life events include, but are not limited to:

Marriage, divorce, or legal separation
Birth or adoption of a child
Death of your spouse or covered child
Change in your spouse’s work status that affects their benefits
Change in your child’s eligibility for benefits
Qualified Medical Child Support Order

*To request a benefit change, notify Human Resources within 31 days of the qualifying life event. Change requests submitted after 31 days cannot be accepted.

Human Resources

I have been an educator for nearly 15 years and this being my second year here at Bromley, I've truly found a home away from home. This school fosters a safe and supportive environment where I feel deeply connected with my students, their families, and my colleagues. Students thrive in my art classes, parents are eager to volunteer, and my peers have offered their constant support. Everyone at our school is dedicated to meeting our needs, from administration and office staff to maintenance, kitchen staff, and the school resource officer. Employee Onboarding

We’re committed to ensuring new team members are successful in their roles and feel like supported members of our community! Learn more about our approach by expanding each of the tabs below.

What does our onboarding program look like for new employees?

All new employees complete initial training upon hire and receive support from a mentor throughout the year guided by the administration, along with job-embedded professional development. Licensed employees receive additional support through the instructional coaching team at Bromley.

Educators who hold an initial license upon hire will engage in our multi-year induction program that supports new educators in developing a strong foundation of educational practices to support a successful teaching career.

New educators receive targeted beginning-of-the-year professional development with subsequent intensive professional development trainings throughout the year. Within the employee's department, they are assigned a mentor teacher for support which is guided by an administrator.

What professional learning opportunities are available to me as a staff member?

Professional development is an essential aspect of teaching and learning at Bromley.

Bromley prioritizes professional development and constructs its yearly calendar to optimize collaborative learning. Learning experiences include professional development days, professional learning communities (PLCs) within the school day, facilitated planning days, coaching cycles, peer observation, and more!
