Ms. Nicole Johnson

Now entering my second year as part of the BECS team, I have proudly moved from being the ELL teacher to teaching 7th grade Language Arts. My story began as I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA with my two brothers and younger sister.   I attended college in Connecticut where I majored in English and Philosophy. Upon graduating I returned to L.A. to pursue a career in fashion and advertising. During this time I also volunteered for the Young Storytellers Foundation teaching creative writing to underprivileged children. This is when I realized my true calling and was desperate for a change. After leaving the ad world, I continued teaching at-risk students in New York for two years before finally deciding to settle in Denver.  I recently married my wonderful husband, Mark, and together we are raising three fabulous kids in Aurora.  My other passions include traveling the world, hiking, and spending as much time as possible simply enjoying my family. I look forward to all the advances this year at Bromley and working with all the bright minds in seventh grade.

Ms. Keva Muldoon

I am originally from Brooklyn, New York, but have lived abroad for over 30 years. I have lived and taught in Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Nepal. When returning to the US, I couldn’t help but move to the glorious state of Colorado. I have been at BECS since the very beginning in 2001 and have watched our school grow into a great school where we offer not only strong academics, a welcoming and highly trained faculty, but a true middle school experience.

Mr. Jon Stein

My name is Jonathan Stein and I am honored to be a member of the best middle school staff in Colorado!   This is my 13th year in the classroom, and it is now truly a place that I call home.  Recently, I taught 7th and 8th grade social studies while also serving as the social studies coordinator in an inner city Chicago charter school.   As part of my continued dedication to lifelong learning, I am also a student this year at the University of Colorado at Denver pursuing my principal license and a master’s degree in Education Administration.  I am a graduate of the University of Iowa where I studied English and History while playing tennis for the University.  Previously,   I taught here at Bromley East Charter School for the school’s first seven years prior to moving back to Chicago.  Once again, I am grateful to be a part of the Bromley family and residing in beautiful Colorado.   If I am not at school or working you will find me spending time with my wife and daughter outside on a playground, dancing to groovy music or cooking delicious feasts.  My hobbies include travel, tennis, writing and reading, attending music concerts and watching the Chicago Bears soar to victory.   It is my pleasure to work with your student each and every day.  The 5th grade will soar to great heights this year!

Ms. Ashley West

My name is Ashley West, and I have had the privileged and pleasure of teaching the talented middle school students of Bromley for the past three years.  I have a passion for reading, writing and all things involving crayons, construction paper, glue and glitter.  It is not uncommon to walk by my classroom to find students hard at work at on a beautiful art project, or parading around the room in costume.  I am especially excited about the 2011 – 2012 school year because I have the great honor of introducing a theatre program to the actors and actresses of Bromley.  I have been involved in sports since I was able to walk.  I have played softball, basketball, volleyball, and even hockey but my true love (aside from Language Arts of course) is soccer.  I have played since I was four years old and have coached for many years as well.  For the past two years, I have been lucky enough to work with some amazing student-athletes as the coach of the seventh and eighth grade boys’ soccer team. I am a Colorado native, originally from the Boulder area and currently reside in Firestone with my fiancé and circus of crazy animals, which keep me incredibly busy and loaded up with stories to share.  Every day is a new adventure!

Mr. Jerome Ortega

Jerome Ortega has a passion for life and educating and learning in every way imaginable!  I’m starting my 6th year teaching at Bromley East.  I taught physical education for 5 years.  This year, I will enjoy working with students on their reading, writing and speaking skills.

I graduated from Brighton High School in 2001.  During my first 2 years of college, I attended Aims Community College.  I graduated there with an Associate of Arts degree in 2003.  I spent the next two years at the University of Northern Colorado.  In 2005, I graduated with a Bachelor of Sport & Exercise Science degree with an emphasis in physical education (K-12).  After my first year teaching, I enrolled in a master’s degree program at the University of Colorado at Boulder.  During this program, I spent a month teaching English to students in Puebla de Puebla, Mexico.  In 2009, I graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Language Acquisition.

Outside of the school, I enjoy training individuals that are willing to reach their full potential in athletics!  On the weekends you will have a difficult time finding me.  As, I will be traveling or seeking adventure somewhere in the mountains!
