Ms. Jan Guyer

I have been teaching or working with children in a professional capacity for 30 years.  I have taught preschool, kindergarten, and first through fifth grades.  I absolutely love teaching at Bromley and teaching fourth graders!  I am certified to teach preschool through 5th graders.  I have a degree in Behavioral Sciences with an emphasis and certification in Elementary Education.  I have minors in Early Childhood Education combined with Reading.  I love teaching reading and writing and the CORE Knowledge curriculum.  I am married to Andy, or “Mr. Wonderful” as he loves to be called.  He works at Toys R Us as a store manager and loves to put special surprises in my class treasure box!  I am also a mom of 4 adult children; Josh, Kurt, Erin, Chelsea.  I have a daughter-in-law, Michal.  I am also a grandmother of Nick and Teagan!  I love spending my weekends and spare time with my grandchildren, reading, watching movies, shopping for antiques, walking, hiking, jeeping, camping or quilting.  I really enjoy having guest speakers, parents and other specialists in my class, so come on by and volunteer sometime… our door to room 160 is always open!

Ms. Lauren Heinz

Greetings from the Windy City! Do you know where the Windy City is? I’ll give you a couple hints: 1.) I’m from this amazing city 2.) It’s right next to Lake Michigan, and 3.) It’s home to DA BULLS, DA BULLS, DA BULLS! Give up??? It’s CHICAGO! Back in April 2005, I moved from Illinois to Colorado. I landed an amazing teaching position here at Bromley. I also managed to land an amazing husband: Mr. Eric Heinz! We got married in June 2006 and have 3 very busy boys (not to mention Spot, our dog; Gary Kitty, our kitten; and 2 fish). When we’re not bombarded by school and wrestling we enjoy camping (‘smores – yum!), boating, going to parks, and jumping on our huge trampoline. I have 1 brother and my parents, Mom, Dad and Sandy, all still live back in good ‘ol Illinois. I miss them and only get to see them about 3 times a year. Sniff, sniff. But as sad as I am sometimes that I hardly ever get to see my family, I would never leave beautiful Colorado.

Mr. Thomas Olmsted

Hi!  My name is T.J. Olmsted.  I am a fourth grade teacher at Bromley East Charter School.  Let me begin by telling you a little about myself.    I am a native of Colorado, and I grew up in the Broomfield area.  I started college at Front Range Community College and finished at the University of Northern Colorado.  I have a degree in Spanish with an emphasis in Bilingual, Bicultural Education.  I have been married to the most perfect person, Katie, for just over a year. We have a first grade son named Zach and my family means the world to me.

This will be my twelfth year of teaching and the eleventh year at this school.  I was one of the teachers who started here the year the school was open, and I am pleased to see the school moving in the right direction.  I am the type of teacher that has extremely high expectations of my students.  I challenge them greatly in all areas of academics.  My past students learn very quickly that I expect a lot out of them.  I push them beyond what they thought they were capable of doing.  Furthermore, my expectations of my students’ behavior could not be higher.  I have a strict classroom management style that ensures that all students have the best opportunity to learn and feel safe without inference from others.  Although my expectations are always high, I always strive to lift my students up with positive reinforcement rather than bring them down with negative reinforcement.
