Hi! My name is T.J. Olmsted. I am a fourth grade teacher at Bromley East Charter School. Let me begin by telling you a little about myself. I am a native of Colorado, and I grew up in the Broomfield area. I started college at Front Range Community College and finished at the University of Northern Colorado. I have a degree in Spanish with an emphasis in Bilingual, Bicultural Education. I have been married to the most perfect person, Katie, for just over a year. We have a first grade son named Zach and my family means the world to me.
This will be my twelfth year of teaching and the eleventh year at this school. I was one of the teachers who started here the year the school was open, and I am pleased to see the school moving in the right direction. I am the type of teacher that has extremely high expectations of my students. I challenge them greatly in all areas of academics. My past students learn very quickly that I expect a lot out of them. I push them beyond what they thought they were capable of doing. Furthermore, my expectations of my students’ behavior could not be higher. I have a strict classroom management style that ensures that all students have the best opportunity to learn and feel safe without inference from others. Although my expectations are always high, I always strive to lift my students up with positive reinforcement rather than bring them down with negative reinforcement.
